CNC Maintenance Technician

The CNC Maintenance Technician role is primary responsibility is to keep production machines running. This includes completing installs, upgrades and repairs to existing and new equipment.

The role oversees the maintenance and repair of all facility equipment such as mills, lathes, facility equipment, etc. Establishes Part Maintenance (PM) schedules for equipment and ensures PM’s are performed in a timely manner. Minimizes down time by ensuring both in-house competencies for minor repairs and a robust pipeline for outside services.

Ensures that all environmental/facility permits and reports are up to date and filed in a timely manner. Oversees hazardous chemical and waste management. Ensures that various facility inspections are performed as well as basic facility maintenance.

Maintains records as required by OSHA, local agencies and internal procedures. Investigates facility and existing machine upgrades, including researching solutions, companies/products and obtaining opinions/quotes as needed.



  • Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other facility systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs machines and equipment, including CNC controllers and PLC’s.
  • Ability to read and work from electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, maintenance manuals and parts lists to understand the basic information and procedures of machine operation and setup.
  • Install/move machines, equipment and required electrical equipment.
  • Install and repair electrical and mechanical systems and related equipment (i.e. compressed air, power distribution, pneumatics, electrical control systems)
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems on machines and equipment.
  • Rebuild/repair machines and equipment as required. Completes mechanical repairs and machine alignments as per OEM specifications.
  • Ensures proper operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on Production equipment.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment throughout the facility with limited direct supervision. Includes maintenance on production equipment/machines.
  • Work on ladders and lifts as required. Work at higher elevations as required.
  • Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies/spare parts to ensure proper quantities.
  • Responsible for the care, safe and efficient, use, and security of maintenance tools, parts and supplies.
  • Accept and support the safety and loss prevention program.
  • Follow all company safety and quality requirements.
  • Perform scheduled safety inspections throughout the facility.
  • Provide building and grounds maintenance.
  • Must work in a safe manner at all times and follow all company safety rules and guidelines.
  • Willing to work flexible hours and overtime or weekends as needed. Must be willing to work modified shift schedules.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain and wind).
  • Creates job plan for corrective maintenance and performs a corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots problems of machines.
  • Installs replacement parts in machines and tests to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Familiar with environmental regulatory permits and written programs.
  • Must be willing and able to take emergency calls for information/action.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements :

Ability to operate a forklift, overhead crane and lifts. Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, crawl and climb as needed for machine repair and maintenance. Ability to utilize meters, test equipment including scopes and analyzers as required.
Shop floor environment with noise (under 80 db), dirt, oil and grease. Walking surfaces may be slippery and/or uneven. Occasional exposure to oil/coolant and chemicals. Position requires individual to be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs., to perform activities in tight spaces. Typical work shift is 10 hours.
